The Reality of Love

A bubbling of bright coloured illusions
Emerge everywhere, from nowhere
Chasing one another closely
As if to out ran each other for an enviable diamond medal
To touch the silver linings of the bright blue skies

The race leaves a funny feeling
A feeling so confusing yet adorable
a feeling that makes you want to run into a land of delusions
Never to heed to the burning calls to make you budge
Or to nudge

But as the bubbling burst into nothingness
Removing the weighty blankets that covers the emptiness of realities
It slapped me in the face
The harsh sense of reality hitting me
Like the feel of Nana's Odum stool in the corner of the clayey kitchen
I sighed

But like the beauty that the bubbling brings
To change the world around it
I hold on to this sweet feeling
Till I hold on to its reality
The reality of love

The unending glow it radiates
Emerge everywhere, from nowhere
Surely illuminating in the darkness
That often makes you feel alone

Hush. It is more than an illusion.
It is simple, yet knotty.
It is reassuring, unbending, sometimes illusory.
It is comforting yet so strong, hot and sturdy.
It is even stanch more like the huge mountains in nearby Eguafo.
It is stubborn yet so supple
That is the reality of love

Inside Your Soul

Shirley Asiedu-Addo

Inside your soul
Deep inside your beautiful soul
A yearning rises
To love a child hungry
To cloth a stranger cold
To reach out and hold a hand too weak to reach out to yours

Inside your soul
Deep inside your beautiful soul
A yearning rises
To lift the mild and frail
To cuddle and to mold
To reach out and hold a hand too weak to reach out to yours

Inside your soul
There is a yearning to help transform
Even the unknown and old
To listen to the errant and bold

The yearning rises
Till you stop and act
Its a fact
Till you stop and act
This yearning continues to rise
Deep inside your beautiful soul
